  • Our approach

Optimise Learning delivers personalised, one-to-one online lessons designed specifically for each student's academic level and pace. Qualified tutors use brain-researched teaching strategies and curriculum-based resources to help students develop confidence alongside academic skills. Sessions are live, interactive and recorded so students can review what they've learned. The online format keeps students engaged with colourful task sheets and interactive tools, allowing tutors to closely observe progress and provide explicit, ongoing feedback throughout each session. Lessons focus on building self-confidence and helping students genuinely enjoy their learning experience.

  • Working with families

Parents can log into a secure student dashboard to read lesson overviews written by their child's tutor, keeping them informed of academic progress. Tutors can work in partnership with your child's school teacher if you provide contact details, allowing the tutor to align lessons with areas the teacher identifies for focus. You're welcome to listen in to your child's online lessons and can chat with the tutor following sessions to discuss your child's learning. If you prefer, Optimise Learning can work independently without school communication, with tutors developing their understanding of your child's needs directly through observation. This flexibility ensures the approach works for your family's preferences and circumstances.

  • Meet the team

The team is led by founders Tracey and Peter Hand, who bring over 70 years of combined teaching experience and extensive educational qualifications including Master's degrees in Education and Brain-Based Learning certification. Tutors are qualified teachers, pre-service teachers with practicum experience, or university students completing education degrees in specific subjects, and all hold current Working With Children Checks. The recruitment process is highly selective, with only approximately 5% of applicants becoming tutors. All tutors demonstrate passion for supporting student achievement, outstanding teaching and communication skills, excellent knowledge of the Australian National Curriculum, and receive ongoing training, mentoring and feedback to support their professional development.

  • Your first visit

When you book a free trial lesson, a member of the education team will contact you to schedule a suitable time and ask what subject or topic you'd like the tutor to focus on. During the trial, the tutor helps your child feel relaxed while introducing them to the online classroom, then provides activities to understand their current knowledge and skills. Following the lesson, the tutor meets with you to demonstrate the online classroom features and discuss observations about your child's academic strengths and areas for development. This no-obligation session gives your family the opportunity to experience how online lessons work at Optimise Learning firsthand.
