About Nicky Lucy Autism Consultant
Nicky Lucy is an Autism Spectrum Consultant, Educator and Presenter with over 20 years' experience working with children of all ages and abilities. She supports children with autism in Adelaide's southern suburbs by working closely with families, therapists and educators, using evidence-based practices and strength-based supports to help children develop skills to thrive at home, school and in the community.

Our approach
The approach is person-centred, values-based and multidisciplinary, underpinned by a holistic Positive Behaviour Support framework. Sessions focus on explicit teaching of skills that are enjoyable, age-appropriate and individualised to respond to each child's particular needs, strengths and interests. Support is delivered individually or in small group settings, with emphasis on communication, interaction, attention and skill development. The consultant works to foster independence and encourages the child's participation in decisions about their learning and support across home, school and community settings.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the approach. The consultant works closely with families to understand their child's behaviour, identify and build on their strengths, and tailor interventions to individual needs. Communication and collaboration extend across home, school and community, with the consultant working together with parents, schools, carers and the multidisciplinary team. Parents receive support with parenting, help understanding autism, explicit teaching of life skills, and assistance strengthening relationships with their child.
