About MultiSense Intervention
MultiSense Intervention, formerly known as The Learning Toolbox, was founded in 2016 to provide specialised supports that specifically meet the needs of children with diverse needs. Their mission is to provide high-quality accessible services for children with diverse needs and their families, striving to enhance skills, independence, and overall quality of life through specialised supports and tailored interventions.

MultiSense Intervention lists
- Early Childhood Intervention
- Specialised support and services for infants and young children with disability and/or development delay. Therapists develop and implement specially planned, individualised interventions in partnership with families and other professionals to support a child's development across all domains.
- Therapeutic Supports
- Intensive, individualised interventions for children and adolescents with learning disabilities and developmental delays. Evidence-based methods addressing functional literacy and numeracy, organisational skills, motivation, self-esteem, communication and social skills.
- Multi-Sensory Structured Language (MSL) Therapy
- Scientifically proven, brain-based approach to literacy learning that is direct, explicit, structured and multisensory. Works for children of all ages including those with dyslexia, intellectual disability and developmental delay, with detailed diagnostics and regular progress monitoring.
- Online Learning
- Flexible and accessible learning using dual screen support, interactive whiteboards, high definition screen sharing and remote control to enhance the multisensory experience.
- Teacher Training and Development
- 1-2 hour workshops showing how children with diverse needs can use assistive technology in the classroom, with hands-on training on the latest assistive apps and in-built features across all major technology platforms.

Our approach
MultiSense Intervention uses structured, evidence-based and multisensory strategies tailored to each child's strengths, needs and goals. Sessions focus on building practical skills across communication, literacy, numeracy, organisation and social participation. For early childhood (ages 3–under 9), programs are play-based and family-centred, supporting development of communication, early literacy and numeracy, play skills, emotional regulation and daily living routines. For capacity building with older children (ages 9+), the approach is goal-focused and practical, helping develop functional skills for independent living and community participation. Throughout, practitioners are highly qualified, accredited and use approaches informed by special education, disability studies and multisensory structured language.
Working with families
The provider emphasises family-centred practice. Barbara's work is family-centred, strengths-based and evidence-informed, and she works with families to recommend and support reasonable adjustments to learning at school so children have equitable access to education. For early intervention, programs are family-centred with family guidance and capacity building included as areas of support. The provider is accessible—no referral is required, they offer both clinic and online sessions, and staff can be contacted directly to discuss your child's needs and the best pathway forward.
Meet the team
The team includes Barbara Leiton, Founder and Director, a Senior Special Educator and Early Childhood Intervention Practitioner with a Master of Special Education and over twenty years' experience in disability and education. She is an accredited Multisensory Language practitioner specialising in dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. Michelle Mead is an MSL Educator trained in evidence-based programs and experienced in structured literacy support for children with specific learning difficulties. Elena Barducci is a Registered Developmental Educator and Practicing Multisensory Language Specialist with 22+ years teaching experience and expertise in literacy and numeracy. The team also partners with Rita Tawil, a Registered Psychologist and NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner, who conducts comprehensive cognitive and academic assessments.
