Mind In Action is led by Tania Pickering, a registered psychologist with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Clinical Neuropsychology (MAPS/APRAH). Tania is registered with Medicare and offers assessment and intervention services, with clients often able to claim private health care or Medicare benefits through a mental health care plan referral.

Our approach
Mind In Action uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based CBT, and Compassion-based cognitive therapy to help children and teens develop resilience and emotional wellbeing. Sessions focus on helping kids get into the life they want despite life's inevitable struggles, addressing issues like anxiety, behaviour, attention, and learning difficulties. The approach aims to bring resilience, compassion, awareness, creativity, flexibility and joy. For parents, the service works collaboratively to identify and grow helpful patterns while managing unhelpful ones that contribute to behavioural, attachment, and emotional issues. Parenting sessions combine hands-on strategies for managing difficulties with mindful work on parents' own patterns and wellbeing.
Working with families
Parents are central to the work at Mind In Action, with dedicated parenting support and therapy services available. The service works with parents to identify and grow helpful family patterns while managing unhelpful ones that contribute to difficulties. Sessions combine practical, hands-on strategies for managing behavioural, attachment, and emotional issues with mindful exploration of parents' own patterns and wellbeing. The overall goal is to guide families toward a direction aligned with their values and what matters to them.
