  • Our approach

Little Tree Practice uses a patient-centred and strengths-based approach to assessment and care. The team provides individual therapy and works to build better family relationships, drawing on evidence-based techniques including CBT, ACT, EMDR, and DBT. Sessions are delivered in a welcoming, safe space by experienced clinicians, with support from the practice's therapy puppy Bailey to help patients and families feel at ease. The practice is trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, recognising the importance of connection to culture, spirituality, family and community for wellbeing. This comprehensive approach strengthens resilience and engagement through accurate assessment, diagnosis, and management.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to Little Tree's mission of building better family relationships and strengthening resilience. Clinicians work with parents and caregivers as active partners in assessment and treatment, including parent education and support tailored to family needs. Dr Jennifer Harris sees parents with babies or toddlers, and the Social Worker Natalie Posada specifically supports parents and caregivers with pressures such as anxiety, grief, trauma and family conflict, helping families navigate developmental shifts and make sense of clinical assessments in everyday life. The practice uses systemic and family-focused approaches to build stability and confidence, and welcomes written or verbal feedback to ensure communication remains open and responsive. This collaborative approach means families are informed and included throughout their child's care journey.

  • Meet the team

Little Tree's team includes Dr Jennifer Harris (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with 20 years' experience, who established the practice in 2018 and sees patients aged 0–17 years and parents with babies or toddlers), Dr Jeffrey Ball (Psychiatrist for adolescents and young adults), and Dr Philippa Levy (Psychiatrist for children, adolescents and young adults). The psychology team comprises Jordan Smith and Haylee Johnson, both Registered Psychologists offering ADHD/Autism assessments and therapies including CBT, ACT, EMDR and DBT. Becca Roberts, a Mental Health Occupational Therapist, provides ADHD/Autism support, functional capacity assessment, and the Study Without Stress program. Natalie Posada, a Social Worker with over 20 years' experience, offers creative, practical, solution-focused support for anxiety, grief, trauma, self-harm, family conflict and school difficulties. All team members have extensive experience across public and private mental health systems and are committed to the highest standard of assessment and care.

  • Your first visit

At the initial assessment, clinicians conduct a comprehensive evaluation to inform diagnosis, management, and ongoing care tailored to each young person's needs. The first appointment involves detailed assessment that may include psychological testing (such as WISC or WIAT for ADHD/Autism), occupational therapy functional assessment, or psychiatric evaluation, depending on your child's presenting concerns. The practice uses these initial findings to develop a strengths-based, individualised treatment plan. Family involvement is emphasised from the start, with clinicians working to build better family relationships as part of the recovery process. The welcoming environment, including time with therapy puppy Bailey, is designed to put both children and families at ease during this important first meeting.
