Our approach
Leapfrog uses evidence-based practices grounded in the latest research, with a strong commitment to neurodiversity-affirming approaches that celebrate how all brains function differently. Sessions focus on helping your child achieve goals that you've helped set together, with therapists using their skills to support progress in real-world contexts. Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists work collaboratively with families, teachers and other members of your child's support team to ensure everyone is working towards the same outcomes. Whether your child accesses therapy in the clinic or within their school, daycare or kindergarten, the emphasis is on practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to your child's individual needs.
Working with families
You and your child set the goals for therapy, and the team uses their skills to help achieve them together. Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists collaborate closely with parents, teachers and other members of your child's team to ensure everyone is working towards the same objectives. This collaborative approach means families are central to the therapy process, with therapists working in partnership to support your child's progress both in the clinic and across home and school settings.
Meet the team
The team at Leapfrog are specialists in paediatrics and leaders in evidence-based, neuroaffirming Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology practice. Autism assessments are led by Speech Pathologists with input from Occupational Therapists, and the provider also has specifically trained Mental Health therapists on staff. All team members are grounded in the latest research and committed to neurodiversity-affirming practices. The most experienced team members run the weekly drop-in clinic to support families needing immediate guidance.
Your first visit
At your first appointment, the focus is on understanding your child's needs and goals, with the assessment process tailored to your individual situation. For autism assessments specifically, the team uses the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition (MIGDAS-2), a neurodiversity-affirming approach designed to understand how your child communicates, interacts and experiences the world. The assessment aims to provide you with clear, practical next steps and support strategies to move forward. If you need immediate support without a comprehensive assessment, the weekly drop-in clinic run by experienced team members can offer advice, guidance and strategies to help your child right away.
