Our approach
Inside Out uses a client-centred and holistic model of practice, recognising that emotional and physical wellbeing are intrinsically connected. Assessment and therapy are tailored to meet each child and family's individual needs. Services include individualised assessment, individual therapy sessions, goal setting, group-based work, school-based support and liaison, caregiver consultation, caregiver therapy and family therapy. The occupational therapists adapt their approach based on where each child is at and build long-term relationships that support connection and shared understanding of the child's development.
Working with families
Inside Out involves parents and carers through multiple avenues including parent consultation, parent-only sessions, family therapy and sibling sessions. The service communicates with families about their child's progress and tailors support for parents as well as children. Parents are supported to understand their child's needs and are welcomed as part of the therapeutic process, with therapists taking time to know families and support them in a warm, professional way.
