• Our approach

  Hopscotch OT is committed to providing evidence-based best practice in a fun environment where children love to attend. The approach is family-centred, working closely with families to understand their challenges and strengths, and goal-directed—setting realistic goals that matter to the child and family. Sessions are integrated with teachers and other health professionals involved in the child's care. The team uses trained approaches including CO-OP (Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance), Occupational Performance Coaching, and Social Thinking, tailored to each child's needs across developmental coordination, learning, attention, autism, sensory processing, and emotional wellbeing.

• Working with families

  Hopscotch OT works closely with families to truly understand the challenges and unique strengths they have to support their child. The service is family-centred, involving parents and carers in goal-setting and therapy planning for goals that matter to the family. Several therapists use Occupational Performance Coaching, which specifically involves working with both parents and children to address areas of concern. The team also values collaboration with educators and other professionals, recognising that consistent support from all involved in the child's life achieves the best outcomes.

• Meet the team

  The Hopscotch team includes five occupational therapists with varying experience levels. Jodie Lang is the Director and Founding Occupational Therapist (graduated 2005, 20 years of experience with children), and is a certified CO-OP therapist and Tuning into Kids facilitator. Nicola Briggs is the Clinical Lead (graduated 2021, certified CO-OP therapist) with expertise in social-emotional development and occupational performance coaching. Ava Pritchard graduated in 2023 and has two years of school and clinic experience, recently certified in CO-OP. Mel Ronald completed their Master's degree in 2024 and brings a design background to collaborative therapy solutions. Genevieve Hunter completed her Master's in 2025 with extensive early childhood leadership experience and training in autism, trauma, and play-based approaches. The practice is supported by Nicky (Practice Manager) and Doreen (Administration).
