• Our approach

  At Happy Otter Therapy Services, the focus is on family-oriented intervention where therapy extends beyond just working with the child to involve the whole family. Sessions use a play-based and strengths-focused approach, providing children with different opportunities to explore the world and develop meaningful interactions with their community. Interventions are designed to be carried out across all settings—home, school, childcare and the community—so that children can apply what they learn in real-life contexts. The tailored, client-oriented programs specifically target the development of gross and fine motor skills, social skills, self-help skills, and sensory processing and integration, with each session shaped around the unique needs, strengths and goals of the individual child and family.

• Working with families

  Family involvement is central to the practice's philosophy—all therapy and intervention must be family-oriented, working not just with the child but with the whole family. The team believes collaboration and open communication are at the heart of their approach, and they take time to tailor each intervention to suit the unique needs, strengths and goals of every child and their family. • Meet the team

  Happy Otter Therapy Services is a small, supportive team of dedicated paediatric occupational therapists. Rachel Tang and Michael Tam are both qualified Occupational Therapists with Bachelor's degrees in Occupational Therapy, and both have experience working with children aged 3 and above with a range of developmental needs including autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing challenges, ADHD, and developmental delays. Both therapists take a play-based, strengths-focused approach and are fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, enabling them to provide culturally sensitive support to diverse families. Rachel services the Leppington, Austral and Camden areas, while Michael services the Kellyville and Hills District areas.
