• Our approach

  Occupational therapy at Grow and Flow focuses on helping children improve their performance in activities they want or need to do, from self-care skills like toileting and dressing through to learning, play and social communication. The approach embraces neurodivergence and aims to provide therapy within a neurodiversity-affirming space. Sessions draw on the concept of "flow"—that wonderful state of being completely immersed in an activity—combined with growth and development. Intervention is tailored to each family's needs and may include direct therapy, parent coaching in strategies and techniques, or equipment recommendations. Camilla offers flexible options including clinic appointments, home visits, day care or school visits, and Zoom sessions for busy parents.

• Working with families

  With a background in family-centred practice, Camilla is committed to working with parents and caregivers as the most important people in your child's life. Parent coaching sessions help you problem-solve current challenges and discuss therapy goals and strategies to try at home, so learning extends beyond the therapy room. Camilla recognises busy family schedules and offers flexible options including Zoom sessions in the evening or during the middle of the day. Communication includes both verbal and written feedback at the initial assessment, ensuring you understand your child's needs and the direction of therapy.

• Meet the team

  Camilla Batchelor is the occupational therapist and founder, with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Queensland (1995) and a Masters of Occupational Therapy in Contemporary Clinical Practice (2002). She brings 20 years of experience working in government and non-government organisations and has extensive experience with children aged 1–12, particularly those with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, global developmental delay and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Camilla is currently enrolled in an Advanced Certificate in Systemic Family Therapy and Practice and is a current member of the Occupational Therapy Association. She is co-located with Gemma Hillier, a speech pathologist who directs Little Gems Speech Pathology.

• Your first visit

  The initial assessment takes two hours and includes a 60–75 minute assessment session, scoring and interpretation of results, and a 30-minute verbal and written summary feedback session with the therapist. This comprehensive first appointment allows Camilla to understand your child's strengths, challenges and goals across the areas of self-care, self-management, learning and play. The assessment findings and feedback form the basis for any recommended intervention plan, which is discussed with you as the parent. Reports can be provided for an additional cost based on hourly rates if needed for school or other services.
