  • Our approach

The approach is warm and compassionate, providing a safe, non-judgmental space where children, adolescents and young adults can explore challenges and deepen their understanding of themselves. Sessions use evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, attachment-informed approaches, mindfulness-based approaches, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills, with additional training in Circle of Security, parent-based interventions like Tuning into Teens and SPACE treatment protocol, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Internal Family Systems therapy. Therapy is strengths-based, holistic and personalised, using connection, play and collaboration to help develop strategies and make adaptive changes aligned with family values. Sessions may involve the young person alone, the child with a parent, parents only, or a combination depending on what suits the situation.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the therapeutic approach. Sessions may include the young person alone, the child with a parent, parents only, or a combination depending on what is needed. The psychologist asks about each parent's own and family background as this influences parenting. Communication with other clinicians and agencies involved in the child's care (such as GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists and school staff) occurs with your written and signed informed consent. Information shared in sessions remains confidential and can only be released with your permission.

She has been working with children, adolescents and families since 2010, with specialist experience in paediatric hospital settings in the public sector and private practice. She has full membership with the Australian Psychological Society and engages in regular individual and peer supervision to inform her practice.

  • Your first visit

The first session aims to build a shared understanding of the difficulties being experienced, what help is needed, and therapy goals. The psychologist discusses who should attend based on the child's age and nature of concerns. During the session, questions are asked about the child's background, current functioning at school and socially, each parent's background and family history, family relationships, and the strengths and interests of the young person and family. From this information, recommendations are made for therapy including a treatment plan informed by evidence-based practice and tailored specifically to your family. Throughout therapy, goals and progress are reviewed periodically to ensure the pace and focus match what you are looking for.
