  • Our approach

At Flora Speech Pathology, each child receives personalised care tailored to their unique needs and goals. The therapists work collaboratively with families to develop individualised treatment plans, using a holistic, neuroaffirming approach that keeps children engaged and motivated. Sessions involve the clinician getting to know your child through play-based interaction and informal assessment of their communication skills. The team has completed training in evidence-based programs including the Lidcombe Program for stuttering, Hanen It Takes Two to Talk, PECS, DIR Floortime, and Gestalt Language Processing. Therapy addresses speech sounds, language comprehension and expression, stuttering, literacy, social skills, and Autism Spectrum Disorder support. The practice is located in Keilor Park and works with children aged 18 months to 17 years.

  • Working with families

The clinic works closely with parents and caregivers as essential partners in therapy. Families are involved in developing customised treatment plans that reflect each child's individual needs and goals, and the team collaborates with parents throughout the therapy process. The initial appointment includes discussion of your child's case history to ensure the clinician understands your family's perspective and priorities. This collaborative approach ensures that therapy is tailored to your child's needs and that families are supported in understanding and reinforcing communication development.

  • Your first visit

Your child's initial appointment focuses on the clinician getting to know your child and understanding their communication needs through a detailed case history discussion. The therapist will establish rapport with your child through play-based activities to help them feel comfortable. Depending on time available, an informal screen of your child's speech sounds and language skills may be completed during this first session. This assessment helps the clinician understand your child's starting point and begin developing a picture of their individual needs and strengths.
