Our approach
Sessions are play-based and fun, using music, singing and creative activities to engage children in learning. The focus is on functional goals that make a real difference—whether that's clearer communication, reading skills, or expressing emotions. Family Learning collaborates with you to set meaningful communication goals and provides you with strategies and activities to practice at home as part of your daily routine. Sessions include time to catch up on progress, complete engaging activities, discuss strategies, model practice techniques, and provide tasks for the week. The speech pathologist takes time to give you clear, easy-to-understand information so you can support your child's learning between sessions.
Working with families
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be part of speech pathology sessions so they can practice skills with their child at home. Family Learning works collaboratively with you to create realistic activities that fit into your daily routine, and the speech pathologist takes time to provide clear, easy-to-understand information during sessions. You are consulted on communication goals because the provider recognises that you know your child best. The service also values your feedback and ideas and respects the unique circumstances of your family.
Meet the team
Andja Bukorovic is the speech pathologist at Family Learning, with a Masters in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Sydney and registration with Speech Pathology Australia. She has extensive experience working with early intervention (0–5 years), primary school-aged children (5–12 years), and adolescents (13–17), with specialist areas including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and hearing loss. Andja is trained in LAMP Words For Life and the Tech Talkers® Parent Training program, and brings additional expertise in music, singing and creative activities to her sessions.
Your first visit
During an assessment, the speech pathologist uses a variety of tools to gain an accurate picture of your child's communication skills. This may include formal assessments, language or speech samples, or conversations with you as the parent or caregiver. The assessment identifies your child's strengths and the areas where they need support. You'll receive a written report with the findings and recommendations to guide the next steps.
