Our approach
Children's speech pathology uses a client-centred approach, choosing play-based activities and the child's own interests to support therapy. Sessions are tailored to each individual's specific needs and goals, creating a fun, engaging and supportive environment for growth and development. A functional approach is used for goal-setting and treatment, helping families focus on what matters most to them. Parents and caregivers work closely with the speech pathologist throughout therapy to support development at home. Early intervention services are also available for infants and toddlers to help address any delays or difficulties in communication early on.
Working with families
Parents and caregivers are involved as partners throughout the therapy process, working closely with the speech pathologist to support development at home. The provider works with teachers and other professionals in school and daycare settings to ensure a consistent approach to therapy and support across all environments. Regular communication and collaboration help create a unified strategy for the child's progress. Sessions can be held in different locations including the clinic, school, daycare or online to suit family needs and preferences. The new client form process helps gather information about family goals from the very beginning to ensure personalised support.
Meet the team
The practice is led by Laura, a qualified speech pathologist holding an Associate degree of Allied Health and a Bachelor of Speech Pathology. She began her career as an Allied Health Assistant in 2018 and has held various roles including private practice speech pathologist, supervisor and regional manager. Laura has completed additional professional development and training courses including Key Word Sign, PROMPT, LEGO therapy, COMPASS and LAMP. She works as a generalist across all areas of speech pathology with children, adolescents and adults. Her personal motivation stems from firsthand experience with communication difficulties in family members with autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and selective mutism.
