  • Our approach

Therapy uses a strength-based, neurodiversity-affirming philosophy that celebrates each person's unique way of thinking and communicating. Sessions focus on building confidence by connecting with what you already enjoy—like hobbies or talents—while supporting emotional wellbeing through trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches. The therapist creates a calm, respectful space where you feel safe and understood, adjusting methods to match how you process information. Sessions support all forms of communication including spoken words, gestures, pictures, symbols, AAC devices, and more, helping each person find authentic ways to express their needs, thoughts, and feelings.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are central to the process—the initial appointment is specifically designed as a conversation with the caregiver to discuss the child's needs thoroughly and build trust. The service supports caregivers throughout therapy with regular communication, planning, and tailored strategies. For adult community skill groups, support workers and carers are explicitly included and work alongside adults to build confidence and learn effective communication strategies for everyday settings.

  • Your first visit

The initial appointment is a 30- to 90-minute telehealth session held just with the caregiver, without the child present, to ensure concerns can be discussed openly and help build a positive therapist-child relationship from the start. The therapist gathers detailed information about the child's strengths and challenges, creating a complete picture of the child and family so that assessment and therapy can be tailored to specific needs. Extra time is set aside for the speech pathologist to write notes and plan future appointments, ensuring personalised services. If the discussion takes less time than 90 minutes, you only pay for the actual time spent, not the full amount.
