  • Our approach

EDUCARE's therapeutic approach centres on an integrated, multi-disciplinary model where specialists work together to support each child's ongoing development. Sessions are tailored to the individual, with therapists using evidence-based practices and personalised intervention plans across psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy and behaviour support. The practice emphasises creating a comfortable, welcoming and friendly environment for children, with a focus on building intellectual, emotional, social and behavioural skills. Each client receives a personalised approach to enhance confidence and wellbeing, with therapists working collaboratively with families to set meaningful goals and improve performance in everyday life.

  • Working with families

EDUCARE emphasises working closely with families as an integral part of therapy and support. Therapists adopt a collaborative and family-centred approach, working with parents and carers to set meaningful goals and understand each child's unique needs. The practice recognises that medical, health and educational needs are often interrelated and works together as an integrated team to deliver personal solutions tailored to each family. Communication with families is built into the therapeutic process, with therapists seeking to empower parents and carers as partners in their child's development and wellbeing.

  • Meet the team

EDUCARE's team includes psychiatrists (including child and adolescent specialists), psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and behaviour support practitioners. The team features senior clinicians with substantial experience—for example, senior psychologists with PhDs and clinical practice since 2008, senior speech pathologists with over 13 years' experience, and behaviour support practitioners skilled in trauma-informed approaches. The practice is led by Dr Anne-Marie Youlden (Founding Director, Educational and Child Psychologist) and Dr Bruce Youlden (Managing Director), with the team collectively trained in evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and therapy across mental health, neurodevelopment, speech and language, coordination, and behavioural support.

  • Your first visit

The process begins with a GP referral, which is required before medical specialists can provide treatment. Once a referral is obtained, families should book a consultation as soon as possible, as appointments fill quickly. At the first appointment, you'll visit the clinic or dial in for a session where the team will work together with you and your child to develop an ongoing health or treatment plan. The initial assessment is designed to understand your child's specific needs and establish personalised goals, with the team taking time to listen and provide support tailored to your family's situation.
