• Our approach

  Therapy sessions are individually tailored to suit each child's needs, with all five speech pathologists bringing evidence-based approaches including Hanen programs, Sounds-Write, Read3, DIR Floortime, Social Thinking, and family-based Early Intervention strategies. The team draws on specialized training in areas like speech sound disorders, autism, alternative and augmentative communication, and literacy intervention. Sessions focus on helping children achieve their communication goals in engaging, supportive environments, with practice between appointments being essential to success. The clinic emphasizes a collaborative team approach where families are central to the child's progress.

• Working with families

  The clinic is committed to working with families as a team effort, recognizing that the amount and quality of practice done between therapy appointments is very important to success. Parents are involved from the start through detailed case history discussions at the first appointment and through ongoing communication about their child's progress and goals. Regular weekly or fortnightly sessions allow for consistent partnership between therapists and families in achieving the child's communication objectives.

• Meet the team

  The team includes five qualified speech pathologists, all Certified Practising Speech Pathologists with diverse expertise. Director Jeanie Welch is Hanen-certified with postgraduate training in speech sound disorders, tongue tie, and feeding; Kathryn Hughes specializes in complex communication needs and neurodiverse disorders with training in DIR Floortime and AAC; Lauren Lorandi brings experience with late talkers and autism; Hanan El Hage (bilingual in English and Arabic) graduated in 2023 with interests in speech sound disorders and literacy; and Charlotte Hubble (graduated 2025) is passionate about family-centered goals. The clinic is supported by a practice manager and reception staff.

• Your first visit

  Your first appointment will focus on building rapport with your child through observations that help with planning. The speech pathologist will take a detailed case history from you as the parent or caregiver to understand your child's background and concerns. Depending on what brings you in, the therapist may conduct some screening tasks with your child, and may recommend further formal assessment tasks to guide the therapy plan. This initial visit establishes the foundation for understanding your child's communication needs and goals.
