  • Our approach

The service uses a play-based, evidence-backed approach centred on the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and Skills-Based Treatment (SBT). Sessions focus on positive and fun relationships between adults and children, targeting developmental areas like communication, joint attention, cognition, motor skills and social skills. The team delivers one-on-one therapy in clinic, home and community settings, working to build safety, dignity and trust as the foundation for learning. Parent involvement is essential, as families and caregivers are recognised as the most important resources for a child's skill development and progress is built into everyday routines and environments.

  • Working with families

The service takes a family-centred approach, recognising parents and carers as the most important resources for a child's skill development. Parent training and involvement are key components of the therapy program, with the team empowering families and caregivers to deliver support in everyday environments and routines. The Program Manager collaborates with all team members and will learn where you are in your journey. Communication is prioritised through clear programs, procedures and policies, with the team maintaining open and transparent dialogue with families about progress, strategies and planning.

  • Meet the team

The team comprises experienced early support clinicians with tertiary qualifications in health-related fields including Education, Early Childhood Education, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Applied Behaviour Analysis. Staff include Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs), Certified Behaviour Analysts (CBAs), and ESDM-certified therapists, many with specialist training from UC Davis. Team members undergo rigorous 6–18 month training programs to meet fidelity standards and must maintain ongoing professional development. Clinical leads and an Allied Health Services Manager provide supervision and clinical governance to ensure best practice and consistent quality across both Hawthorn and Williamstown clinics.

  • Your first visit

The initial appointment is a 60-minute consultation at one of the clinics with the friendly team to see if Amazing Kids is the right fit for your child. This is a free session where you can discuss your child's needs and learn about the services offered. After this, you'll register with the operations team to choose your preferred days and times, and they'll provide availability. Your first therapy session follows, when you'll meet the team and they'll begin to individualise the support tailored to your child's specific needs.
