  • Our approach

Connect Kids uses a mentoring-based approach where trained adult mentors are paired with children to provide guidance, support, and encouragement in a trusting relationship. Mentors work closely with children to help develop their social and emotional skills, build self-esteem, and navigate life's challenges through regular one-on-one time and shared activities. Sessions are flexible and activity-based, with mentors and children choosing activities together such as sports, outings, craft, and adventures based on the child's interests. Beyond mentoring, the organisation also offers education support through free tutoring and employment transition assistance as part of a comprehensive three-spoke model. For families facing challenges beyond these programs, Connect Kids provides early intervention and intensive family support tailored to identified needs.

  • Working with families

Connect Kids maintains regular communication with families and involves parents and carers throughout the mentoring process. Mentors provide updates on their interactions with children and maintain open communication with parents about their child's progress and activities. Families receive practical support and assistance from mentors when needed, and the organisation considers family circumstances and needs when making matches. Parents are encouraged to provide feedback and stay engaged with the program, and Connect Kids emphasises forming connections not just with children but also with their families and carers.
