  • Our approach

Blue Door Psychology takes a thoughtful, holistic approach to understanding each child. Rather than focusing solely on diagnosis, they work to understand the whole child—their strengths, learning style, personality and emotional world. Assessment sessions are tailored to suit your child's age, comfort and individual profile, conducted in a calm, supportive environment at a pace that works for them. Information is gathered from multiple perspectives including home, school and direct assessment, ensuring a well-rounded picture. Families leave with a deeper understanding of their child and practical, tailored recommendations that offer genuine next steps for home and school.

  • Working with families

Blue Door Psychology maintains a family-centred approach throughout the assessment process. They gather information through parent questionnaires and maintain open communication about your child's progress. After assessment is complete, the psychologist meets with you to explain findings clearly and discuss practical next steps tailored to both home and school. The aim is to help families feel informed, supported and confident as they move forward with the insights and recommendations provided.

  • Meet the team

The team is led by Alex Strauss, Principal Clinical Psychologist, and includes Eran Bar, a Registered Psychologist (Clinical Registrar), and Stefanie Di Stasio, a Registered Psychologist who specialises in educational assessments. Administrative and clinical support is provided by Cassie Strauss (Practice Manager and Reception), Kate Fitzmaurice (Reception and Administration), and Caitlin Muir (Therapeutic Assistant). The practice also has Sadie, a wellbeing dog who forms part of the team.

  • Your first visit

The first step involves booking directly online without needing a referral, followed by a detailed intake form to gather background information about your child's history and your specific concerns. Your child then attends one or more assessment sessions in a calm, supportive environment where the pace and approach are tailored to their age and comfort level. Additional information is gathered through parent and teacher questionnaires to build a well-rounded understanding of your child across different settings. After the assessment is complete, you meet with the psychologist to discuss findings and practical next steps, with a detailed written report provided within 8 weeks.
