  • Our approach

Bloom Therapy Co adopts a neuro-affirmative approach that celebrates and nurtures each child's strengths and interests rather than focusing solely on limitations. Sessions focus on helping children fully immerse themselves in everyday activities and working toward specific, achievable goals in engaging and creative ways. During typical OT sessions, the therapist works with the child on skills related to their individual needs, which may include fine motor, gross motor, or sensory processing activities. Therapy is available in clinic locations, at home, or at school to suit your family's lifestyle and schedule. The environment is designed to be supportive and inspiring, with parents as active partners in the therapy process.

  • Working with families

Parents are central to the therapy process at Bloom Therapy Co and are guided on how to support their child's progress outside of sessions. The therapist provides regular progress updates and tracks your child's performance on specific skills and goals, with transparent communication throughout. You receive a detailed initial report following the assessment phase that is reviewed together to ensure you understand all recommendations. Parents are empowered with tools and strategies needed to help their children thrive, and the team aims to create an environment where parents feel understood, supported, and equipped to help their child reach their full potential.

  • Your first visit

The first stage involves completing an intake form, after which the therapist will email to organise a 30-minute phone call to discuss your information and explain next steps. You'll then have a 45-minute initial consultation with the primary parent or caregiver without the child present, which is found to be more comfortable and effective for both the parent and child. Over the next two therapy sessions, the occupational therapist will conduct various assessments and observations to evaluate different areas of development and identify your child's strengths and weaknesses, while you may be asked to complete formal assessments independently. Following these initial three consultations, a detailed report is prepared, reviewed with you, and a clear therapy plan with specific goals is created to move forward.
