  • Our approach

BillyLids Therapy uses a play-based approach where toys and games are therapeutic tools that help children learn while they laugh. Sessions are tailored to each child's unique needs, interests, and how their brain works, incorporating engaging activities and resources to support development. For speech pathology, interactive play-based therapy helps children improve communication skills and build confidence in expressing themselves. For occupational therapy, therapists work with children to identify challenges and develop plans to overcome them, helping them manage everyday tasks as independently as possible. Sessions blend learning and play seamlessly, with therapists skilled at making evidence-based techniques fun while recognising and celebrating each child as an individual.

  • Working with families

The clinic prioritises family involvement and works closely with parents and carers as central partners in their child's development. Sessions include parent coaching and family support, with the team recognising that supporting and empowering families delivers better outcomes for everyone. The multidisciplinary team coordinates and communicates with your child's wider care team—including specialists, schools, daycare and kindergarten—to help reduce the time you need to spend managing and coordinating care. Community visits to schools, kindy and daycare, and home visits are part of their model, with therapists creating resources that help children engage in their communities and assist teachers and carers in supporting them. The clinic describes itself as family-focused and family-friendly, with family as one of their core priorities.

  • Meet the team

The team is led by co-founders Rachelle (Director and Speech Pathologist with a Masters in Speech Pathology, background in nursing and midwifery) and Rosanna (Senior Occupational Therapist and Allied Health Manager, University of Queensland graduate). The speech pathology team includes Joan, a senior speech pathologist with over 40 years of experience in complex communication disorders and AAC; Amelia, a senior speech pathologist with multiple certifications including PROMPT and feeding therapy; and several other speech pathologists including recent graduates and those with varied experience in paediatric practice. The occupational therapy team similarly includes therapists with experience in autism, developmental delays, physical disabilities, and assistive technology. All therapists are focused on paediatric practice with dedication to continual professional development and evidence-based care.
