  • Your first visit

The initial assessment may take up to 90 minutes and is focused on getting to know you and discussing the issues that are concerning you. During this first session, the psychologist will work with you to understand your difficulties and typically set a goal that becomes the focus of subsequent sessions. Following the initial assessment, sessions are usually 50–60 minutes in duration and can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly or less frequently depending on your needs and progress. The number of sessions varies by individual; some clients benefit from a couple of sessions while others may need 10–15 sessions to address their concerns. Sessions are conducted in a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable exploring your difficulties.
