  • Our approach

Bancroft Psychology uses a collaborative, direct, and evidence-based approach tailored to each client's unique needs. Sessions draw on therapies like EMDR, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Resource Therapy to address root causes of mental health issues rather than just managing symptoms. The style is warm and non-judgmental, with genuine listening, real feedback, practical strategies, and humour to make difficult moments easier. Rather than silent nodding or parroting, the therapist offers insights and practical steps, aiming to help clients get unstuck and create lasting change that sticks.

  • Your first visit

The first session is structured as a getting-to-know-you conversation where the therapist asks what brought you to therapy, what's been happening in your life, and what you hope to achieve. There's no pressure to dive into heavy topics immediately—you'll go at your own pace. By the end, both you and the therapist should have a sense of whether you're a good fit to work together. You're welcome to ask questions about therapy, the therapist's approach, or anything else on your mind.
