Our approach
The centre uses evidence-based stuttering treatment approaches delivered by clinicians who work alongside internationally renowned clinical researchers at the Australian Stuttering Research Centre. Sessions are flexible and can be delivered via telehealth from home or in person at the clinic, with research showing both formats are equally effective. The centre offers specialised programs tailored to different age groups, from preschoolers through to adults, ensuring treatment is matched to each client's needs. Services include assessments (approximately one hour) and ongoing treatment sessions, with the flexibility to fit around school and work schedules. Telehealth makes treatment accessible to families across Australia and worldwide.

The team includes experienced speech pathologists, including Anna Hearne and Cheryl Andrews, who work with internationally renowned clinical researchers at the Australian Stuttering Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney. The centre's clinicians are equipped with up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge in stuttering treatment and deliver specialised care across all age groups. Team members also provide professional development and clinical mentoring to other speech pathologists, reflecting their expertise in the field. The centre emphasises experienced, qualified clinicians providing treatment grounded in current research.
Your first visit
The first step is usually an assessment, which takes approximately one hour and can be done either in person at the clinic on Wednesdays or via telehealth (Zoom) Monday to Friday. Before committing to a full assessment, parents can also book a 30-minute parent session to ask questions and discuss their child's needs with a speech pathologist. Once you've booked an appointment, families can choose the format that suits them best—either attending the clinic at the University of Technology Sydney or joining online from home. The team will guide you through the process and help ensure you have the information needed to move forward with treatment.
