About Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation
Kookaburra Kids delivers evidence-based, age-appropriate prevention and early intervention mental health services to young people aged 8-18 years impacted by family mental illness. Through peer-based social and activity-based programs, they aim to empower young people to build resilience, lifelong knowledge and abilities so they can reach their potential and develop skills to ask for help when they need it.

Our approach
Kookaburra Kids delivers evidence-based, age-appropriate prevention and early intervention mental health services designed specifically for young people impacted by family mental illness. Sessions are embedded within a peer-based, social and activity-based format that helps children learn from and support one another. Children participate in an annual camp and a series of fun activity days where mental health education is woven throughout. The approach emphasizes building resilience, lifelong knowledge and abilities, and helping young people reach their potential through connection with others who understand their experiences.
