Our approach

ATAR Advantage uses a methodical, common sense approach to helping high school students build strong study habits and achieve success in Mathematics and Science. Sessions focus on understanding how to apply cognitive verbs in assessment tasks, unpacking curriculum content, and linking marking guides to assessment requirements. The tutors coach, support, motivate and celebrate success, working with each student to understand what's going on, set goals, and monitor progress. This foundational skills emphasis is introduced early across all high school years, not just in the final years, with the belief that establishing these skills early is the best approach to exam success.

Working with families

ATAR Advantage values parental engagement as crucial to student success and involves parents throughout the tutoring process. The team listens to both parents and students during the initial consultation and provides all the information families need to make informed decisions about their child's support. ATAR Advantage also offers Parent Information Sessions to help parents understand the senior ATAR system, dispel myths, and feel confident in supporting their child's learning. Additionally, the Senior folder and ongoing communication help parents track their child's progress and stay engaged in the learning journey.

Meet the team

ATAR Advantage is led by Directors Natalee and Stuart, supported by specialist tutors in Maths and Science. Natalee is a Child Safety Solicitor for the Queensland Government, and Stuart is a high school maths and science teacher with leadership experience across the private and public sectors. All tutors hold Working With Children Blue Cards and receive comprehensive, ongoing professional support from the Directors. The team is fully accredited and insured through the Australian Tutoring Association, with all members thoroughly assessed for qualifications, police checks and suitability to deliver tutoring services, plus a strong commitment to continuous professional development.

Your first visit

ATAR Advantage offers a free initial consultation at your home (or online as an alternative) to discuss what's working, what's needed and what's next for your child. The team will listen to you and your child and provide all the information you need to decide what's best for your family. Travel to your home is included as part of this initial assessment, with only distance-based travel charges applying for subsequent sessions if needed. This first meeting helps establish a clear picture of your child's needs and how the tutoring can best support their learning journey.
