  • Our approach

Therapy at Songbird is highly individualised and builds on each child's unique strengths and interests to make sessions engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable. The approach is evidence-based, neuro-affirming, and strengths-based, grounded in the belief that every child communicates in their own way. Sessions take place in a fun, safe, and supportive environment where children feel motivated to grow and express themselves. The team takes time to understand the 'why' behind behaviours, recognising that all behaviour is a form of communication. Family, teachers, and others involved in the child's care are worked with in partnership to build meaningful connections and provide support where it's needed most.

  • Working with families

Your involvement is central to your child's therapy journey at Songbird. The team works in genuine partnership with parents, siblings, educators, and support teams, ensuring your voice and your child's voice are equally valued in every decision made and every goal set. Practical training and recommendations are provided tailored to your family's routines and everyday life at home, school, and in the community. Collaboration extends to schools and support staff to ensure consistent support across all settings, empowering families and helping children build confidence and independence everywhere they go.

  • Meet the team

The team is led by Izabella (Izzy) Cehajic, a Speech Language Pathologist (MSPA CPSP) with a Master of Speech Pathology from Griffith University. She trained initially as a singer at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and brings a unique perspective to her work. Izabella has developed her expertise through working in private clinics, schools, kindergartens, and within the Queensland Government Department of Education. Her practice is grounded in a child and family-centred approach that prioritises building connection and trust with each child and their support network.
