Our approach
The service recognises that children and adolescents have different developmental needs from adults, and sessions are tailored to each client accordingly. Creative and engaging tasks are incorporated into many sessions to help young people practise and master new skills. Psychological assessments and treatment plans are personalised based on understanding these developmental needs. Sessions are collaborative, with psychologists drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. The team works to ensure young people can reach their unique potential through personalised, developmentally informed care.
Working with families
Parents and caregivers are recognised as the experts on their own children, and collaboration with families is central to the service's approach. You will be involved in developing personalised assessment and treatment plans, and the team actively encourages your participation in sessions when possible. The psychologists also endeavour to work with teachers and other professionals involved in your child's life to help your child meet their unique potential. Sessions are always collaborative, and the team approaches families with openness and sensitivity to individual needs.
Meet the team
The team is led by Catherine Asciak, an endorsed Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience. Registered psychologists Sophia Stanford and Ellie Cooper are clinical psychology registrars who bring training in evidence-based therapies and specialised assessment skills. Sophia has completed Autism assessment training and has experience with neurodiverse clients, while Ellie works within a neurodivergent-affirming framework. Administrative staff Emily and Farleen provide welcoming support and can assist with enquiries and appointment scheduling. The practice also hosts provisional psychologists completing their final training under board-approved supervision.
