Our approach
Abundance uses evidence-based interventions including SOS Feeding Therapy and DIR Floortime, a neuro-affirming approach that promotes emotional and social development through playful interactions tailored to each child's strengths. Occupational therapists employ play as a therapeutic tool to help children master life skills including self-care, emotional regulation, social skills, and fine and gross motor development. The clinic takes a holistic approach that considers the child's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Sessions may be individual or group-based, including the popular Secret Agent Society group program designed to enhance social and emotional skills.
Working with families
Abundance is built on a family-centred philosophy that values families as essential partners in decision-making and care planning. The team's approach includes creating customized plans that take into account your child's interests and aspirations, and they actively collaborate with parents and other professionals working with your child. Communication with families is part of their core values, and they are dedicated to supporting you through your journey whether working directly with the clinic or referring you to services that better meet your family's needs.
Your first visit
The process begins with an initial assessment to gather detailed information about your child's strengths and areas of concern. Our therapists combine standardized assessments with informal observations during various activities to build a comprehensive picture. Before the assessment, the team discusses your child's needs and interests to understand how they can assist, creating a customized plan that reflects your child's aspirations. This may include recommendations for individual or group sessions, collaboration with other professionals involved in your child's care, and strategies focused on achieving your child's specific goals.
