  • Our approach

At Zanda, therapy is built around your child's strengths and your family's world. Sessions are joyful and playful, using creativity, movement, music, and play to help children learn best when they're happy and engaged. The approach focuses on practical strategies that fit into your daily routines rather than adding extra stress, and every plan is tailored to your unique goals. Therapists are carefully matched with your child to build trust, and the team works collaboratively with everyone who supports your child—teachers, kindy staff, and other professionals—to ensure consistent support across all areas of their life.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the approach—you set the goals that truly matter to your family, as the therapist recognises you know your child best. The team keeps you updated in ways that work for you, whether through quick phone calls, emails, or short videos from sessions, understanding that parents can't always be present. Therapists liaise directly with daycare staff, preschool teachers, and other health professionals working with your child, and can even provide on-site training and support to help them assist your child. When your child sees multiple therapists at Zanda, the team works closely together and regularly shares insights to ensure everyone is on the same page.

  • Meet the team

The team includes Speech Pathologists with bachelor's and master's qualifications, Therapy Assistants, and a Paediatric Occupational Therapist. Zanda was founded in 2018 by a sole speech pathologist and has grown to include multiple clinicians with varying experience levels, from those with 3+ years in paediatric speech pathology to support staff. The team members have completed professional development in areas including speech sound disorders, autism support, and early language development. There is a Managing Director, Team Manager, Business Manager, and Clinical Advisory Team to support the clinical work.

  • Your first visit

The first session is 1 hour long and gives the speech pathologist or occupational therapist time to explore your concerns about your child's skills. The therapist will ask you questions about how your child currently communicates, socialises, and learns, as well as understand your goals for them. They'll also spend time with your child doing games and activities to get to know them and complete some assessment activities through play or at the table. This initial appointment is designed to be relaxed and engaging while gathering the information needed to create a personalised therapy plan for your family.
