Our approach
Your Functional Therapy takes a tailored, collaborative approach to helping each child achieve their goals. Occupational therapists work with clients step by step to explore solutions that match their specific needs and circumstances. Sessions can happen in your home, at school, or in the clinic, depending on what works best for your family. The team is experienced in paediatrics, disability and mental health, and brings specialised knowledge in areas like sensory interventions and building independence. They work together with you to create a plan that makes real, practical differences in your child's daily life.
Working with families
Your Functional Therapy values close communication with parents and carers throughout therapy. The occupational therapists work collaboratively with families to formulate goals and provide regular updates on your child's progress. They are happy to answer any questions you have and can work with support workers and carers to ensure everyone is supporting the child in the same direction. Your input and partnership are important to how the therapy is planned and delivered.
Meet the team
Your Functional Therapy is a multi-disciplinary team of experienced therapists including occupational therapists and art therapists. The occupational therapists have experience working with children and young people, with specialised knowledge in paediatrics, disability and mental health. They are skilled in writing NDIS reports, recommending sensory interventions and supporting children to increase their independence. The team is committed to providing professional, compassionate care tailored to each child's unique needs.
Your first visit
At your first appointment, an occupational therapist will conduct a verbal assessment to understand your child's needs and goals. Before the appointment, you'll receive a service agreement and be asked to provide intake information. The therapist will listen carefully to what matters most to your family and use that information to shape the therapy plan. This initial consultation sets the foundation for ongoing support and helps ensure the approach is right for your child.
