  • Our approach

Time for Words develops individual therapy programs based on best available evidence, with therapy goals set at the beginning of each program and progress monitored regularly. The recommended frequency of sessions is determined according to evidence-based practice and your child's specific needs. The service offers both individual therapy programs and Sounds-Write, an evidence-based linguistic phonics program for phonics, reading and spelling. Alexandra, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, is a Registered Sounds-Write practitioner who tailors each child's program to support their communication and literacy development.

  • Meet the team

The service is run by Alexandra Tomov, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist who qualified in 1996. She is a member of Speech Pathology Australia and a registered provider for Medicare and most private health funds. Alexandra has extensive paediatric experience in community health, pre-school language units, primary schools, early intervention centres, and a cochlear implant clinic. She has also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Melbourne investigating outcomes for children with bilateral cochlear implants.

  • Your first visit

If you have concerns about your child's speech and language development, contact Alexandra to discuss whether an assessment is required. A doctor's referral is not necessary for your child to be seen. At the start of your program, therapy goals are set and progress is monitored on a regular basis. The service works with you to determine the recommended frequency of therapy sessions based on evidence-based practice and your child's individual needs.
