Our approach
Therapy for Kids Perth uses a neuroaffirming, family-centred approach that celebrates neurodiversity and meets every child with curiosity and respect. Sessions are playful, strengths-based, and designed around the child's individual needs rather than what they "should" be like. The multidisciplinary team works collaboratively across occupational therapy, speech pathology, psychology, and physiotherapy, all under one roof. Whether your child has a formal diagnosis or you're noticing something feels different, the practice supports families from the very beginning of their journey through ongoing care.
Working with families
The practice works with families as partners, not just as passive recipients of care. Communication and collaboration with parents and carers is central to sessions, with many clinicians specifically noting their commitment to working closely with families and empowering parents. Progress reporting supports plan reviews, and families are involved in goal setting and plan updates. The admin team is available Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm to help families navigate funding, understand their options, and manage ongoing bookings.
Meet the team
The team comprises 23 clinicians across four disciplines: occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, and physiotherapists, many with postgraduate qualifications and specialist training. Clinicians are described as passionate, neuroaffirming practitioners with experience in early intervention, neurodevelopmental differences, trauma-informed practice, and strengths-based approaches. Team leads include Lily Squire (Psychology), Anna Fitzpatrick (Speech Pathology), Catrina Pham (Occupational Therapy), and others. The practice was founded by Mia Tarpey, who brings extensive clinical experience and lived experience navigating mental health challenges with her own child.
Your first visit
At your first appointment, the team will get to know you and your child through a welcome meeting and initial assessment. You'll work together with your clinician to understand your child's needs, set goals that matter to your family, and develop a personal therapy plan. Intake forms are completed at the start, and you'll sign a service agreement. The focus is on building a partnership with your family and creating a clear roadmap for therapy that's tailored to your child's unique strengths and challenges.
