Our approach
The Talbot Centre uses a You-centred Care Plan approach that treats each child as a whole person, attending to physical, mental, social and environmental aspects of their health. Sessions are grounded in evidence-based treatment delivered within a warm, supportive and respectful environment. The team provides therapy, skill development, consultation and health education tailored to your child's specific needs. Care is coordinated across multiple disciplines, ensuring all practitioners work together and stay aligned. Your child's progress is reviewed regularly, with the plan adjusted as needed based on what's working and what additional support might help.
Working with families
Your family is central to your child's care at The Talbot Centre. The You-centred Care Plan is developed collaboratively with your input and insights, and you're involved in ongoing reviews of what's been helpful and what additional support might be needed. The team communicates and coordinates with you throughout your child's journey, keeping you informed and responsive to your family's needs. The centre's approach recognises that families already possess many resources to improve their child's life, and the team's role is to support you as you take each step together.
Meet the team
The Talbot Centre's multidisciplinary team includes allied health professionals (psychology, dietetics, speech pathology, and occupational therapy coming soon), as well as medical professionals including a general practitioner and paediatrician. The team is experienced across a broad range of health needs and works closely together, staying aligned on your child's care. All practitioners collaborate on your child's case to ensure coordinated, connected care. The centre has been recognised with multiple awards for team culture, paediatric practice, and clinical excellence.
Your first visit
The first appointment begins with a comprehensive assessment of your child's past and current health across all areas – physical, mental, social and environmental. Following this initial assessment, the multidisciplinary team reviews the findings together to understand your child's needs holistically. A You-centred Care Plan is then developed, outlining which practitioners can best help, the evidence-based treatments recommended, and how they'll support your child's progress. This collaborative approach ensures all team members are informed and working toward the same goals for your child's well-being.
