About The Speech & OT Centre
The Speech & OT Centre is a Paediatric service supporting children with difficulties in communication, sensory processing, fine/gross motor skills, play skills, and overall learning and concentration, particularly for children who present with developmental delays, autism and other disabilities. Our vision is to deliver a culturally diverse, family centred service, incorporating evidence based practice, to work with your child's strengths in order to empower you & give you a sense of ownership in your child's learning & development.

The Speech & OT Centre lists
- Speech Pathology
- Speech therapy and speech pathology support for children who may present as late talkers, difficulties with speech sounds and stuttering, amongst other things. Support for expressive and receptive language.
- Occupational Therapy
- Support for children with gross motor or fine motor co-ordination difficulties, attention and concentration issues, self-care tasks, posture, sensory sensitivities, visual processing, pencil grip and letter formation, and emotional regulation.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Support
- Support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Autistic Disorder, Asperger's Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, addressing difficulties in social interaction, communication, restricted and repetitive interests, and sensory sensitivities.
- Other Disabilities Support
- Support for children with other disabilities, including developmental delays and intellectual disabilities.
- Mobile Speech & OT Therapy
- Mobile based services working individually with children and their families in their own homes and educational settings with flexible hours.
- Bilingual Therapy Services
- Services provided in Arabic, Cantonese and Mandarin by bilingual therapists.

Our approach
The Speech & OT Centre takes a family-centred approach grounded in evidence-based practice, working with each child's strengths to empower families and give them a sense of ownership in their child's learning and development. Sessions address communication (talking and listening), sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, play skills, and overall learning and concentration. The service offers flexible mobile therapy delivered in children's homes and educational settings, making it convenient for busy families. Therapists can provide services in Arabic, Cantonese and Mandarin to support bilingual families. The centre continues to provide sessions with COVID-safe practices in place.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the service philosophy, with the centre's vision explicitly including family-centred practice that empowers parents and gives them a sense of ownership in their child's learning and development. The mobile service allows therapists to work with families in their homes and educational settings, facilitating communication and collaboration in familiar environments. Parents are encouraged to be active participants in their child's therapeutic journey rather than passive observers.
