Our approach

The Ranges Learning Centre uses evidence-based, explicit instruction tailored to each student's individual learning needs. Sessions focus on specialised support for literacy, numeracy, and learning differences including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD, and ADHD. Students can choose private lessons or small group sessions (2–4 students) that balance personalised attention with peer interaction. The centre's approach is grounded in research-supported methods including the Science of Reading, Maths Australia, and The Writing Revolution, with teachers who are qualified specialists in their areas of expertise. Sessions run for 50 minutes and can be delivered one-to-one or in small groups during school term.

Working with families

Families receive progress reports at the end of each term outlining their child's progress against the centre's rubrics, with more in-depth annual reports that include opportunity for child reflection. Parents can choose whether to sit in on lessons or use the waiting area, and the centre encourages students to attend independently. The centre communicates openly about how home learning supports progress—while not mandatory, keeping the learning going at home helps children progress more quickly. Letters of support, supplemental reports, and classroom accommodation lists are available at an additional cost. The centre is responsive to family needs and circumstances, with a clear cancellation policy that allows make-up lessons with 24 hours' notice.

All staff are qualified teachers or speech pathologists trained in explicit and direct instruction in literacy and/or numeracy. Staff specialise in supporting students with diverse learning needs including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD, ADHD, and developmental delays.
