Our approach

The Ranges Learning Centre delivers explicit, direct instruction grounded in the science of reading and multisensory structured language (MSL) approaches. Sessions use evidence-based programs tailored to your child's specific learning needs, including MSL intervention, maths intervention, writing intervention, and school readiness lessons. Highly skilled teachers specialise in supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD, ADHD and other learning differences. Sessions are individualised or delivered in small groups of two to four students, with flexible attendance—you can drop off or sit in the waiting area if you prefer. The centre operates Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm during school terms, with 50-minute sessions designed to help students gain confidence and mastery in literacy and numeracy.

Working with families

Parents can choose whether to sit in during lessons or use the waiting area—the centre welcomes both approaches. The centre communicates progress through brief term reports and more detailed annual reports, with opportunities for children to reflect on their own progress. Families receive occasional take-home practice materials (such as readers, fluency passages or dictations in MSL lessons, and occasional maths work) to support learning between sessions. The centre can provide additional support documents including letters of support, supplemental reports, and classroom accommodations lists at an extra cost, and works with parents navigating support for children with learning differences.

Meet the team

The team consists of qualified primary school teachers and speech pathologists, all trained in explicit and direct instruction. Director Giulia Cuzzilla is an MSL Educational Specialist with over a decade of teaching experience and five years working privately with children with dyslexia and dysgraphia. Team Leader Lauren Mattinson is an MSL Educational Specialist with over 15 years in early years education and experience implementing evidence-based literacy programs. Other specialists include Cheryl Martin (MSL, 40+ years classroom experience), Vanda Camm (Literacy and Numeracy, 30+ years), Mandy Sierp (Literacy and Numeracy), Louise Connor (MSL, 15+ years), Ylana Giauque (Literacy and Numeracy), Deshani Fernando (Numeracy and Writing), Rob Newton (Numeracy, 32 years classroom experience), Gemma Ashdowne (Literacy and Numeracy, 8 years), and Steph Burns (MSL Trainee). All staff are qualified and trained in evidence-based methods.
