About TalkHQ Speech Pathology
At TalkHQ speech pathology, we offer a range of play-based therapy services for children who may be experiencing challenges communicating with the world around them. We recognise that every child and family situation is different and adapt therapy to suit each unique child rather than using a 'cookie cutter' approach. We work with children from birth through to the end of their high school year, utilising evidence-based strategies and innovative play-based learning.

Our approach
Therapy at TalkHQ uses innovative, play-based learning where children have fun without realizing they're learning. Sessions are individualized to suit each child's unique needs, interests and learning style, drawing on evidence-based practices and a variety of activities including tabletop, floor, computer, iPad and movement work. Rather than fitting children into a standard mould, the team adapts sessions around what motivates each child—whether that's helping them sit still, concentrate, or engage based on their age and developmental stage. Sessions are held in vibrant clinics, at home, in school, or online via telehealth, with each 45-minute session thoughtfully designed so the learning happens naturally through play.
Working with families
Parents and carers are actively involved in goal-setting and therapy planning, with their input vital to ensure therapy goals align with how the child functions at home, school and in the community. The speech pathology approach includes coaching parents in strategies to practice at home within natural environments where learning is more meaningful for the child. Communication with families is supported by parent-friendly systems including electronic forms and text reminders. Regular review of communication goals with parents ensures therapy is progressing and helping the child participate in everyday activities, with capacity building—empowering carers to independently nurture their child's communication skills—a key focus throughout intervention.
Meet the team
The TalkHQ team includes co-owners Jenna Mottin and Alex Hartley, both senior speech pathologists with clinical education responsibilities. The broader team comprises multiple qualified speech pathologists at various experience levels (including senior speech pathologists), allied health assistants, and support services staff. The team is described as value-aligned, collaborative and passionate about helping children expand their communication abilities through fun and innovative learning. Team members include specialists across different service areas with diverse qualifications in speech pathology.
Your first visit
The initial assessment is designed to identify your child's strengths and weaknesses, which then guides the speech pathologist's approach to ensure the most effective outcomes. You don't need a referral to book an assessment—simply contact the friendly team to arrange a time that suits your family. The assessment will uncover any breakdowns in communication and set your child on the path to reaching their greatest potential. If intervention is recommended, early action is encouraged, as early intervention is key to success.
