  • Our approach

Talk About It Speech Pathology uses a strengths-based, evidence-based intervention approach that is child-centred and neurodivergent affirming. Individualised therapy sessions and programs are developed for each child based on their specific strengths, current evidence-based research, and the child and family's needs. The practice works closely with families, carers and other health and educational professionals to support children in developing their communication skills. Sessions are offered flexibly as home visits, school visits (where approved) or online via Telehealth, and the Speech Pathologist adapts strategies to suit each child's engagement style and developmental level.

  • Working with families

The Speech Pathologist works collaboratively with parents and caregivers to develop an individualised therapy plan and emphasises that progress comes with commitment, consistency and hard work from everyone involved, particularly parents and caregivers who spend the most time with their child. Families are encouraged to contact the Speech Pathologist to discuss how their child engages best, whether that involves particular toys, visuals or motivators. The practice values close working relationships with families and recognises that parental involvement and motivation are key factors affecting how long therapy is needed and the outcomes achieved.

For a quicker overview, screening assessments are also available as a brief 15-20 minute assessment of your child's communication skills to determine if further in-depth assessment is required, with a summary report provided. A comprehensive written report will be provided after a full assessment, including recommendations for support and next steps tailored to your child's needs.
