Our approach
At Speech Workshop, therapy is focused on improving children's abilities to express themselves, understand others, and develop social and literacy skills. Sessions are collaborative, with the therapist working closely with families to create personalised interventions tailored to each child's unique needs. The team provides practical strategies for parents and teachers to implement at home and school, supporting children's overall language development. By partnering with families throughout the therapy process, the service aims to achieve optimal outcomes that make a meaningful, positive impact on each child's speech and language skills.
Working with families
Parent and carer involvement is encouraged and central to therapy at Speech Workshop. The service provides tailored activities and resources for practice at home to complement therapy sessions and reinforce learning. The team works hand-in-hand with families to create personalised interventions, and parents are welcome to be part of the therapy process. This collaborative approach ensures consistent support and reinforcement at home, helping to maximise your child's progress toward their goals.
Your first visit
To schedule an initial appointment, you can contact Speech Workshop by phone on 02 8004 0099 or by email. The current waiting period for an initial consultation is approximately two weeks. During your first visit, the speech pathologist will assess your child's needs and then discuss recommendations for the length and frequency of therapy sessions to help your child achieve their goals. Sessions run for 60 minutes, though the pathologist will tailor this based on what's right for your child. No referral from a GP is needed, although your GP can provide a Chronic Disease Management Plan if your child is eligible for Medicare rebates.
