  • Our approach

Speech 2 U delivers neurodiversity-affirming, person-centered speech pathology services tailored to each child's individual needs and strengths. Sessions are play-based and meaningful, incorporating the child's interests while maintaining a strength-based approach to therapy. The service is mobile, meeting children in their own environments—whether at home, school, daycare, or in the community—because this is where therapy matters most. This approach ensures that communication goals are worked on in the settings where children spend their time, making learning practical and relevant. Every session includes 15 minutes dedicated to feedback and communication with family members, along with personalising resources to support what's being worked on.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the service model. Every session includes 15 minutes of dedicated time for feedback and communication with parents and carers, ensuring you stay informed about what's being worked on. The service personalises resources specifically for your family to use at home, supporting practice between sessions. Staff also provide liaison, training, and attendance at case conferences and NDIS planning meetings as part of the service. This collaborative approach means families and support teams are active partners in achieving the best communication outcomes for the child.

  • Meet the team

The team consists of two qualified speech pathologists. Ashlee is the Director and Senior Speech Pathologist, graduating in 2015 with extensive experience across disability services, non-profit and private practice settings, and remote Western Australia communities. She specialises in complex communication needs and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Nicola is a Speech Pathologist who graduated in 2019 and brings special expertise in early language, multimodal communication, and articulation. Nicola has worked extensively in early intervention with neurodiverse populations and is skilled in Key Word Sign (KWS) and AAC support. Both clinicians are committed to developing positive, trusting relationships with families to achieve the best outcomes.

  • Your first visit

An initial assessment can be either a screener or a comprehensive evaluation, depending on your child's needs. The assessment gathers information about your child's communication skills and goals to inform the therapy plan. The service includes 15 minutes after each session for feedback and discussion with you about what was covered and what you can support at home. A detailed report is also provided—you can choose between a summary or comprehensive report, depending on what you need. This thorough first appointment sets the foundation for personalised, meaningful therapy going forward.

No referral is needed to see one privately. You only need a GP referral if you want to access Medicare rebates or are going through certain funded pathways.

There's no "too early." If you have concerns about your child's talking or understanding at any age, an assessment can clarify whether support would help.
