Our approach
At SOS Therapy and Learning Centre, each child's individual learning style is respected and supported within a positive environment that is fun, nurturing and safe. Sessions use evidence-based, play-based learning with movement, creating a calm space where children can maintain an alert level needed for learning. The centre recognises that children don't fit into a single pattern of learning, so therapy is flexible and tailored to meet each child's unique needs and strengths. Sessions are holistic and strengths-based, providing a safe and affirming space to learn. The service is committed to supporting parents with information, resources, advice and techniques they can use at home to help their child develop skills.
Working with families
The centre is a client, child and family-centred practice that believes strongly in supporting parents with information, resources, advice and techniques to help them assist their child's development at home. Parents are encouraged to be the best possible advocates for their child, and the service commits to providing them with tools and strategies they can use between sessions. Teachers are also welcome to contact the centre to discuss assessment outcomes and therapy recommendations, and the centre attends school meetings including IEP meetings when needed. This collaborative approach ensures families have the knowledge and support they need to encourage their child's ongoing skill development.

Your first visit
Two initial assessment options are available depending on your child's needs. The short consultation (one hour) is for less complex cases and does not include a full written report, with teachers welcome to contact the centre to discuss outcomes and recommendations. The long consultation (one hour, $350) is for more complex cases and includes a comprehensive written report, with teachers also able to discuss results and recommendations detailed in the report. Your speech pathologist will discuss which assessment option suits your child's particular needs and next steps for any recommended therapy.
