• Our approach

  Therapy at Sensational Kids is tailored to each child's individual needs and concerns, with a flexible, fluid approach that can include supporting sessions with different team members when it will improve outcomes. Sessions are relaxed and fun, often involving play with toys or games rather than feeling formal, and take place in playrooms at the clinic. The team works closely with families to understand their concerns and creates therapy plans that fit your family's schedule, budget and availability. The approach is neurodiversity-affirming, meaning children's differences such as autism or ADHD are understood as strengths rather than problems to fix. Communication and knowledge-sharing between team members ensures coordinated care focused on what matters most to your family.

• Working with families

  Parents and carers are a vital part of the therapy team at Sensational Kids. The team gives you, and other supporters like siblings, grandparents or nannies, the skills to use effective therapy tools confidently at home and provides ongoing support as you learn these new techniques. Sensational Kids also works with teachers and other support people to help transfer new skills into different environments like school. The team is passionate about ensuring parents gain effective information and strategies, and they communicate closely with other professionals involved in your child's care to create a coordinated approach.

• Meet the team

  Sensational Kids has a dedicated team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Dietitians, Music Therapists, Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapy Assistants and Clinic Administrators. The team includes several assessing psychologists and speech pathologists qualified to conduct formal assessments. Team members undertake frequent professional development to improve their skills and are supported through internal and external supervision with their peers. The team works closely together and with families to achieve optimal outcomes and streamlined care. The practice is led by Fran Nicholson as Manager/Director, with clinic admin leaders in each location, and has been assisting children and families since 2007, helping over 17,000 children.

• Your first visit

  Your first appointment begins with a chat to discuss your concerns and understand what brings you in. The clinic has a variety of playrooms where the therapist will select toys or games to play with your child in a relaxed, fun way—it won't feel like a formal therapy session to you or your child. After this initial visit, the team will make recommendations about the best way forward and help you plan next steps that fit your family's needs and daily schedule. If you need to adjust the plan at any time, they're happy to make changes to suit you. The whole process is designed to be gentle and accessible.
