Our approach
At Say It Louder, therapy sessions are engaging, motivating and tailored to meet each child's individual needs. The approach is play-based, drawing on the child's interests to build rapport, enjoyment and progress. Sessions focus on functional strategies that children can use across their home, school and community settings. Parents are coached to interact, engage and communicate with their children, extending learning beyond the clinic. A range of evidence-based programs and techniques are used depending on the child's needs, from the Hanen approach for early communication through to social skills programs and AAC strategies.
Working with families
Families are central to the therapy approach at Say It Louder. Parents are coached and empowered to interact, engage and communicate with their children, as this is seen as imperative to the child's development. The speech pathologist works closely with families to help them understand their child's communication and behaviours, and provides functional, play-based strategies that can be used at home and in education settings. This ensures that skills learned in the clinic transfer to the child's home environment and community, with intervention designed to be family-centred and collaborative.
