  • Our approach

Ruby's Room uses a Zoom-based telehealth model to provide individualised speech pathology services tailored to each child's needs. Sessions focus on a range of communication, learning, and social skills, with a strong emphasis on parent coaching and home practice to support progress between appointments. Each standard therapy session includes a minimum of 45 minutes of direct contact time plus 15 minutes of documentation and individualised home practice materials sent to families via email. The approach addresses diverse needs, from speech sound difficulties and language development to literacy, stuttering, social skills, and play—with flexibility to meet each child's specific priorities and values.

  • Working with families

Ruby's Room prioritises keeping families involved and informed throughout therapy. Every standard session includes a follow-up email to caregivers with the week's home program and detailed documentation of progress, ensuring you understand what's being worked on and how to support your child at home. The therapist also provides phone correspondence for detailed discussions, liaison with other professionals working with your child (such as occupational therapists or teachers), and written correspondence as needed—all available to keep communication clear and collaborative.

  • Your first visit

The initial assessment begins with a comprehensive review of your child's history through a submitted case history form and detailed discussion, followed by administration of the appropriate assessment for your child's needs. You'll receive a written report within two to four weeks, and the therapist will follow up with a phone call to discuss results, identify your priorities and therapy goals, and plan next steps. Initial assessment sessions allow up to 90 minutes, and your child may need more than one session to complete the full assessment, with any additional sessions included in the initial cost. You do not need a referral to begin services.
