  • Our approach

One Step Two Step offers individual and group therapy sessions designed to help children gain skills and confidence across all areas of daily living. The provider specialises in a range of evidence-based approaches including occupational therapy, speech pathology, psychology, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, art therapy, play therapy, and music therapy. Therapists work flexibly with children in various settings—in clinic, at home, outdoors in parks, and in pools where relevant—making therapy engaging and age-appropriate. The philosophy centres on early intervention and helping each child reach their full potential by tailoring sessions to their individual needs and learning style. Sessions include comprehensive assessments, individual intervention, classroom observations where relevant, and regular progress reporting to ensure families understand progress and strategies to support at home.

  • Working with families

Parent involvement is central to the therapy process at One Step Two Step. Parents meet with the therapist at the initial assessment and are included in discussions with teachers if relevant, ensuring they understand their child's needs and progress. The therapist confirms the next appointment directly with the family at the end of each session and maintains regular communication about progress. Each individual session includes 1-hour intervention with regular progress reporting, and group sessions end with individual summary reporting. The provider emphasises working with parents and caregivers as key partners in supporting the child's development and learning throughout the therapy journey.

  • Meet the team

One Step Two Step has a multidisciplinary team of qualified allied health professionals including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, art therapists, play therapists, music therapists, dietitians, and allied health assistants. Team members hold relevant qualifications and professional registrations such as AHPRA and ESSA. For example, one physiotherapist holds a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours) and a Master of Physiotherapy Studies from the University of Queensland, is qualified in hydrotherapy delivery, and specialises in early intervention and early childhood developmental delay. Allied health assistants work under the guidance of senior therapists to provide additional therapy support.

  • Your first visit

The initial assessment is a 2-hour session that includes a comprehensive evaluation of your child's skills and development, classroom observations if relevant, and a meeting with parents and teachers where applicable. The therapist will gather detailed information about your child's strengths, concerns, and daily functioning across different environments. At the end of this session, the therapist will provide a comprehensive report outlining findings and a tailored program of strategies to support your child's progress. If additional assessment is needed, the therapist may recommend a further 1-hour session to explore specific areas in more depth, such as memory or other specialised testing.
