  • Our approach

Omilia Speech Pathology is a neurodiverse affirming practice that provides family-centred, holistic, and evidence-based assessment and therapy. Sessions focus on developing children's communication skills across speech clarity, language understanding and expression, literacy, fluency, and social connection. The provider draws on a range of specialist training including Applied Behaviour Analysis, structured phonics, parent coaching through the Hanen approach, and evidence-based interventions for complex speech sound disorders and childhood apraxia of speech. The practice works with children to help them communicate with confidence while partnering with families, educators, and support teams to create meaningful goals that foster communication, connection, and confidence.

  • Working with families

The practice is dedicated to partnering with families, educators, and support teams to create meaningful goals and foster communication, connection, and confidence. Maria has delivered presentations to preschool educators and families to build awareness of speech pathology's role in early learning, and has specialist training in the Hanen "More Than Words" program, which engages parents of children with autism to facilitate their child's development. Families are kept informed at every step of the process, and the provider works closely with families navigating funding through the NDIS to ensure accessible, coordinated support.

  • Meet the team

Maria Vasili is the Director and founder of Omilia Speech Pathology. She holds a Bachelor of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences from Macquarie University and a Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Technology Sydney. Maria has extensive experience supporting children and young people aged 18 months to 25 years across different settings, including as a clinical educator for Masters students and in private practice. She has specialist expertise in working with neurodivergent individuals and those navigating the NDIS, and maintains current evidence-based practice through membership in Speech Pathology Australia's Professional Self-Regulation program.

  • Your first visit

At your first appointment, your child's speech pathologist will conduct an assessment to understand their communication needs and strengths. Please bring your Medicare card and current GP referral if claiming a rebate, private health insurance details if applicable, any previous reports from hearing or psychological assessments, and letters from specialists. Bringing a favourite toy or comfort item can help your child feel at ease, and it's helpful to have a list of questions ready. The clinic is located at Ryde Medical Centre in Eastwood with free parking available for patients, and the goal is to make you and your child feel comfortable, supported, and informed throughout the process.
