• Our approach

  At Neighbourhood Teacher, the approach focuses on stimulating a positive learning environment that empowers students to think critically and reach their full potential. Sessions use Miro, a virtual interactive whiteboard with real-time video and audio, where children set personalised learning goals and receive modelling and instruction tailored to their needs. All learning materials are teacher-made, interactive, and aligned with the Australian National Curriculum, moving beyond repetitive textbook exercises to make learning engaging and educational. Between sessions, children receive practice questions and regular written feedback to reinforce key concepts and maximise learning results. The philosophy draws on Einstein's belief that education trains the mind to think, rather than simply memorising facts.

• Working with families

  Parents are involved from the start through an initial phone conversation to discuss priorities and learning needs. The provider communicates progress through regular written feedback so you can track your child's learning journey. An individualised learning plan is developed and emailed to you after the trial lesson, setting clear goals for the term ahead.

• Meet the team

  Neighbourhood Teacher's tutors are all qualified Australian Primary School Teachers who have taught in Australian primary schools and are trained and ready to teach. They understand the Australian curriculum and how to teach it effectively. The team creates teacher-made digital resources and individualised learning plans for each student.

• Your first visit

  The first appointment begins with a neighbourly phone chat to understand your priorities and your child's learning needs. This is followed by a 30-minute trial lesson that includes an assessment to identify your child's strengths and areas for growth, as well as a taught lesson so you can see what the teaching approach looks like. After the trial, the team develops and emails you an individual learning plan that sets clear learning goals and uses your child's strengths to design the upcoming lessons.
