- Screening Assessment
- A screening assessment to determine if there is a difficulty requiring further formal assessment, using screening tools, informal observations, checklists or formal assessment tools. Typically takes up to an hour to complete.
- Formal and Diagnostic Assessment
- Comprehensive assessment using standardized assessment tools covering receptive language, expressive language, speech, voice, fluency, social communication, and other areas depending on presenting difficulties. May require up to 3 x 1 hour sessions.
- Speech Pathology Therapy
- Individualised therapy sessions of 30, 45 or 60 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly. Sessions include review of homework, introduction of new skills, and homework setting with parent training.
- Stuttering Support
- Supporting people to speak fluently and smoothly when communicating with peers and others.
- Articulation Therapy
- Learning to say sounds correctly to be easily understood by others.
- Language Development
- Development of expressive language, receptive language and/or social communication language.
- Literacy Support
- Learning the foundation blocks to literacy including phonological awareness and higher levels of literacy skills such as reading, writing and spelling.
- Disability Support
- Helping people with a range of disabilities to achieve their full potential, including using speech and/or Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems.
- Review Sessions
- Review sessions to monitor progress over time and ensure therapy skills have been maintained.

Our approach
Mount Eliza Speech Pathology helps children, adolescents and adults reach their individual speech, language, literacy and communication potential through fun activities. Therapy sessions are individualised and planned based on personal priorities and developmental needs. The service offers specialised, experienced paediatric speech pathology across a range of areas including stuttering, articulation, language development, literacy skills, disability support and communication. Sessions can take place in the modern clinic at Mount Eliza Consulting Suites, or off-site at childcare, preschool, school and home settings as required.
Your first visit
The first step is to phone Mount Eliza Speech Pathology on 0408 180 221 to discuss your concerns and determine whether speech pathology is appropriate. An assessment session is then scheduled, during which a case history is taken and formal and/or informal assessments are conducted to assess the person's skills and abilities. No referral is required to access this initial assessment. Following the assessment, individualised therapy sessions are planned and scheduled based on personal priorities and developmental needs.
